Huron Update

Here is the latest update on Huron.  I am getting very close to finishing the main body.  It took me a while to make a decision on how to paint the heavy flamer, but in the end I decided to go with the gold finish to keep a certain balance to the model.  I am currently trying to decide if he is going to keep the back banner or if I am going to move that into a unit.  It is such a nice piece, but I am not a huge fan of back banners on IC's.  Anyway that is where it sits.  Once again, photo's taken with the phone so understand the quality...

More Huron

Hello again,

I had the chance to put a little paint down on Huron today and almost finished his "claw"  I tried a subtle "just turning on" lightning crackle.  I am not sure how I feel about it just yet, but overall I like the way the model is coming together.  As always comments are welcome!

Badab War

Hello again to everyone.  It has been a while since I have made a post, but life has kept me pretty busy.  My family and I recently re-located to Phoenix AZ and it was quite a move.  Now that things are beginning to settle down I will try to post more frequently.  My latest project has been to get my friends from Redding and Chico involved in a the Badab War.  I would like to thank my friends back home for staying involved and to extend thanks to the guys at 40k Radio/Battlefoam for extending a friendly invite to come hang with them to do some painting.  Here are some photos.  Of course feedback is always welcome.  All photos take with an iPhone4.

Next Project

Well hello again folks.  Just throwing a quick note out to say thanks to all of those who have viewed my blog and taken part of the survey.  Also I wanted to toss a couple of pics up of my next model.  This one is part of a fun (well I think it is fun) project I started with my some of my friends a while back that I nicknamed "Foreign Exchange Models".  Basically you paint a model for a friends army.  I do not know if everyone else has enjoyed it as much as I have, but I really enjoy bragging about the models that my friends have painted while I play.  It is just another thing to talk about and honestly I think the Nor-Cal gaming group aka G3, Brotherhood of Mutants, etc is about as good as it gets.  Nothing personal to those who are out of this area, but just keeping it real :).  Anyway, here is the model I am working on for my friend Anthony.  To be honest this guy is long overdue in his Grand Army and I am honored that he picked this model for me to take part in the model exchange.  As you can see he started the model with an interesting technique.  He basically primes the model and then applies a light drybrush of a metallic gold which provides some initial shading.  From there he goes in and paints in the rest of the colors.  I am sticking with a traditional paint scheme for Kharn in order to fit in with the rest of his army, though I will say it was very difficult to not go with a Pre-Heresy palate.  In the end I hope that I put out a model that he finds worthy of all the Apokolypse games that he participates in.  Lastly please take a look at my WIP section as I have posted a few more pics of the Infinity model I just finished.  Any comments are welcome!!!

eBay and Armies

Well this week marked the departure of 2 armies that have been around my gaming community for some time.  My friend Scott parted ways with a majority of his Tau force and I sold off the Imperial Guard army I had picked up from my other friend Jody.  While it seemed like a bummer to se a pair of forces leave my gaming area at first, I was reminded that really, they are actually adding to another community.  I actually wonder sometimes just how far some of the models that have been painted by myself or a friend have actually gone.  I can say they have left the country and been coast to coast just from my models!  Anyway, I can safely say that eBay is a good place to get rid of old stuff that you just do not use and the more I do it the more I think it is the right way to go.  These models need to see the tabletop!  It is just another way to grow the hobby... just getting more Fully Painted stuff out there is great.

First Post

Hello there.  I am a long time gamer that has been playing tabletop games for over 15 years.  I decided to start a blog in order to try to shed a little light on a portion of the games that can sometimes be over shadowed by the game itself, painting.  I also wanted to have a place to showcase some of my own projects.  I hope anyone that views this blog enjoys it.  Please do not think that I am going to be able to post everyday, but I will attempt to keep it somewhat up to date.  Thanks in advance.
